season.. and families all across the Piedmont need your help. WFMY News 2
is teaming up with Second Harvest Food Bank for a summer food
collection effort.
Ready to have some fun in the sun, and
support your neighbor at the same time? WFMY and Crumley Roberts will
conduct a “Food 2 Families” food drive on Friday, June 18th at Wet ‘n
Wild Emerald Pointe. Guests who donate at least 4 non-perishable food
items will receive a $10 discount off admission to Wet ‘n Wild that day!
All food items will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. Come out
to support a great cause and enjoy a fun summer day at the water park!
What are the most recommended non-perishable items to collect for a food drive?
Protein Sources: Canned tuna fish, salmon, chicken, Beef Stew, Spam, Corned Beef, Peanut Butter, 18 oz., Canned baked beans, Dried and canned beans and peas
Canned Vegetables: Greens, turnip, mixed vegetables, Peas (green), Tomatoes, corn, green beans Vegetable juice
Canned Fruits: Peaches, pears, fruit cocktail, applesauce, Fruit juice, Dried Fruit, Diced tomatoes
Grain: Oatmeal, Whole grain crackers, Cereals, All types of pasta, Cream of Wheat, Whole grain rice
Other Items: Soups, Sugar, 2lbs., Dry milk, Macaroni & cheese, Bags of dried beans , Rice 1 lbs. or larger bags
Dietary Supplements: Ensure or similar products

ABOUT FOOD 2 FAMILIES -In 17 years, WFMY News 2, its partners and the community have helped get 3,931,690 pounds of food to local families and individuals in need. All the food collected has supported Greensboro Urban Ministry, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC in Winston-Salem, and other local agencies responsible for providing assistance to those in need.
