GREENSBORO, N.C. April 19, 2012 – What’s the buzz about an Adult Spelling Bee? For the second-straight year, Chuck Trull, Dre Fleury and David Ventura will represent Crumley Roberts in the Annual Adult Community Spelling Bee, hosted by the Literacy Council of Union County. Trull, Fleury and Ventura will compete against over 15 other teams as team “We Stand Up! For Literacy Spellers,” while raising money for a great cause: free tutoring to adults in Union County.
The Spelling Bee will take place on Thursday, April 26, at 6:30 PM at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Along with free admission, there will also be music, raffles and fun for the whole family! For a $6 donation, there is also an optional dinner menu, catered by Chick-Fil-A, Chili’s and Subway.
Teams will get one “mulligan” throughout the contest, allowing them a second chance after spelling a word incorrectly, and will be judged according to the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary. Supporters are encouraged to show up in “Bee flare” and cheer on teams.
Teams of spellers from churches, business, civic groups, and other organizations are taking on the challenge. They're in for a fun time while also raising money for a great cause!
The winning team will go home with the traveling "Beetrice" trophy! The first team out will be awarded the Noah Webster Prize!
