HICKORY, N.C. – March 21, 2012– Morgan McNeil, a high school senior at South Caldwell High School has been selected as Crumley Roberts’ 2012 Extreme Dorm Makeover contest winner. As the winner, Morgan will receive a prize package valued at $1,200 to transform her dorm at N.C. State, where she will be enrolled as a freshman in the fall. On Wednesday, Crumley Roberts’ representatives met Morgan and presented her with an early portion of her winnings, a $200 gift card to Target.
The contest, conducted on Crumley Roberts’ Facebook page, ran from early January to March 1st. McNeil was one of many students to enter the contest by “liking” the Crumley Roberts fan page and completing an application online. The purpose of the giveaway was to help offset some of the necessary college expenses to combat the increasing tuition rates across the country.
Morgan will be majoring in genetics at N.C. State. She will be starting in June in the Summer Start Program and housed in the Women in Science and Engineering Dorm. When asked about her response to winning the contest, Morgan said: “I entered on a whim not really expecting to win – I thought it was a cool prize. I actually forgot about it until I got the call from Crumley Roberts.”
The firm will be following Morgan on her journey to college and will be updating its Facebook™ and YouTube™ Channels with details as they occur. Pinterest® fans are invited to follow us at: www.pinterest.com/crumleyroberts so we can repin dorm décor suggestions.
The Extreme Dorm Makeover contest was offered in addition to Crumley Roberts’ annual Chairman’s and Next Step Scholarships, which are aimed at North Carolina high school seniors attending a North Carolina four-year college or university, and North Carolina Community College students transferring to a four-year college or university, respectively. The firm awards five of each category, and this year’s winners will be announced in early May. Both scholarships offer $1,000 towards college tuition plus an Apple iPad.
