Peter H. Burke

Litigation Attorney

Peter Burke is passionate about providing personalized legal guidance and counsel to his clients. He graduated summa cum laude from Washington and Lee University in 1988 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and History. During his undergraduate years, he was a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Epsilon. Mr. Burke then pursued his law degree and graduated from Yale Law School in 1991. While at Yale, he was a member of the Yale Law Journal.

Mr. Burke has practiced his entire career in Birmingham, Alabama, and is licensed in Alabama (1991), Tennessee (2004), Texas (1998), and New York (2006). He is admitted to all district courts in Alabama, the District of Colorado, the Southern District of Illinois, the Southern District of New York, the Western District of Tennessee, the 7th Judicial Circuit Court, and the 11th Judicial Circuit Court.

Mr. Burke has a national practice which focuses on consumer class action cases, multidistrict tort litigation, ERISA long-term disability, and personal injury. Since 2014 Mr. Burke has been listed in Super Lawyers Alabama and Super Lawyers Southeast in the areas of plaintiff litigation, ERISA, and insurance law. Since 2016 Mr. Burke has been listed in Best Litigation under the practice areas ERISA, mass torts and class action litigation.

He is proud to be a member of the following organizations: the Birmingham Bar Association, the American Bar Association (Fraud Section), the Alabama State Bar, the State Bar of Texas, and the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association.

From 2012 until 2017, Mr. Burke has served on the Board of Directors for Workshop, INC., an organization that works with people with disabilities helping them prepare for and find employment. The organization’s consumers have a range of mental to physical disabilities and many also have multiple disabilities or dual diagnoses. Mr. Burke also previously served on the Alabama Autism Society Board of Directors from 2005-2008.

Mr. Burke travels frequently to Ireland, the homeland of his parents, where he owns a home on Galway Bay, a large sea lough on the west coast of Ireland.
