Allergan Breast Implant Attorney in North Carolina
Injured By a Defective Device? We’re Here To Help.
Were you harmed by a defective Allergan breast implant? The popular implants were recalled by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in July of 2019 after they received several complaints from recipients who developed breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma, an immune system cancer, because of certain components in the implants. Upon further investigation, the FDA learned that individuals with Allergan Natrelle BIOCELL textured implant products were approximately six times more likely to develop breast-implant anaplastic large cell lymphoma.
If you or someone you love developed anaplastic large cell lymphoma, or another form of immune system cancer, after receiving an Allergan Natrelle BIOCELL textured breast implant, you may be eligible to seek legal recourse for the damage you’ve suffered.
Our team at Crumley Roberts understands how traumatizing it can be to suffer from a defective product, especially when the damage leads to corrective surgeries and a cancer diagnosis, as is so often the case with Allergan implant recipients. The repercussions associated with the Allergan breast implants can be steep indeed, and our firm is here to provide you with the resources and support you need.

About the Allergan Implant Recall
The Allergan textured breast implants experienced a significant amount of popularity because the textured design allowed the devices to stay in place more than similar smooth implants. However, soon after they hit the market, women began issuing complaints to the FDA, claiming the devices caused them to develop cancer.
The FDA received an alarming number of reports against Allergan breast implants and, after the number of complaints stretched into the hundreds, they conducted an analysis to dig deeper into the issue. They reviewed reported illnesses involving cases of anaplastic large cell lymphoma, or BIA-ALCL, from around the world, and concluded that these illnesses and deaths were due to a dangerous flaw in Allergan’s breast implants.
After creating a Medical Device Report on the issue, the FDA released a Class 1 Recall (their most serious type of recall) to remove all Allergan breast implant products from the market immediately.
The recall included a variety of Natrelle BIOCELL implants, including:
- Allergan Natrelle Saline-Filled Textured Breast Implants
- Allergan Natrelle Silicone-Filled Textured Breast Implants
- Allergan Natrelle® 410 Highly Cohesive Anatomically Shaped Silicone- Filled Textured Breast Implants
- Allergan Natrelle 133 Plus Tissue Expander
- Allergan Natrelle 133 Tissue Expander with Suture Tabs
For the full list of recalled implants, read the FDA’s Safety Communications.
Understanding the Dangerous Side Effects
According to the FDA, of the 573 cases of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma, 481 occurred in women with Allergan breast implants. In other words, more than 83% of women with BIA-ALCL likely became sick because of their Allergan breast implants.
Although there is no cure for cancer, there have been several successful treatments for women with BIA-ALCL. After the surgical removal of the device, doctors must go in to remove the cancerous cells. In some cases, treatment may also include chemotherapy and/or radiation.
